Blessing vs Permission

My wife seldom disagrees with me. She has always been supportive and permissive. The first person I told when I decided to own a big bike was my wife. She did not question. She did not complain. She did not make faces. She did not give negative remarks. She just nodded and asked me to show her the bike. I never expected any problem and obstacles coming from her. I knew for a fact that she would support me no matter what. And if she disapproved of my desire, I would still buy the bike nonetheless.

The real problem was getting my mother to somehow see the importance and the need to own a big bike. So, when I went back home for Hari Raya Qurban last week, I purposely and intentionally brought my laptop together so that I could show her the wallpaper. Being a MotoGP enthusiast, she was automatically drawn to my wallpaper. She asked about the make and model of the bike and I happily answered. I also let her know that it was my intention to buy the bike as soon as possible. I was not that shocked and relieved to the fact that she permitted me to buy the bike, but more to how fast she acknowledged and understood my desire and passion for this ER6N. We even watched some videos I downloaded together. My mother however do not like a black ER6N and I kinda promised her to take other than black.

A friend of mine has agreed to accompany me to book the bike in December. However, due to some relevant issues, we agreed to purchase the bike in January. I cannot wait..Seriously, damn.....

35k Only...

35k is a lot of money. That amount of money is equivalent to a Perodua Viva, a low-cost flat, and an ER6N..To some people, spending 35k on a Viva and a flat is normal and productive. But to spend that same amount of money on a motorbike is somewhat ridiculous.

Lately, that is how I feel. Instead of buying a bike, why not I use the money for something more purposeful and practical. Not that I am implying that a motorbike is not practical and useless. To those who are less fortunate than us, they could do things life changing with the money. For example; pay for their children's education, renovate their houses, buy a fishing boat and etc.

When Kawasaki Malaysia launched the new Kawasaki Ninja 250 2013, the price tag seemed reasonable to me. The bike is sold at approximately 23k. If I were to buy a Kawasaki Ninja 250 instead of the ER6N, I would save up to 12k. But of course 250cc sounds less encouraging. With the fact that I need to spend another 800-900 just to upgrade my licence to B Full, I find that buying a Ninja is a reasonable and practical solution.

I was appalled and demotivated when my colleagues protested against my decision and intention of buying a Ninja. They gave negative and unpleasant remarks on 250cc bikes. "Alang-alang beli, beli yang mantap terus la.." was one of the many comments given.

After a healthy and thorough discussion with my colleagues, 4 of them, once again, I have to admit, that I have fallen for the ER6N. Just a quick glance at my laptop wallpaper gives me the rush and determination to owning one.

35k?? Fuck it. Just do it. You only live once.

Lust

When I was little, as a child, I liked playing with toys. I did not like Lego. I hated puzzles. My mother would not allow video games in the house. I had dozens of trucks, cars, motorcycles, and I would bring them along to the shower. Instead of counting the sheep, I would play with them in bed until I fell asleep.

As I grew older, I no longer played with toys. Instead, I found a new hobby. Riding a bicycle. I remember pretending and imagining riding a motorcycle while in reality, I was riding the Le-Run bicycle my father bought for me. I even imitated the sound of motorbike. But at that time, I knew for a fact that I was just riding a bicycle.

My father did not own a bike. I longed for an experience being on a bike. Many years passed, I managed to get my hands on a Yamaha RXZ. It was my first bike. After two years of sweet and painful moments with the bike, I downgraded myself to a Honda Wave 100 R due to several factors; fuel consumption was a major one.

The Honda Wave 100 R remains loyal and reliable to me. However, ungrateful as it may seem, I gave the bike to my little brother who needs transportation in campus. I trust the bike to serve my brother with the same loyalty and reliability it has provided me all these years.

Now, I think it is time to get a new bike. This time, I aim for a 250cc bike considering the B2 licence I possess. Ninja, CBR, Duke, Blade, Magelli are some of the brands I have been considering. One day, I chatted with a friend who has wide knowledge on motorcycles and he told me that once you have started playing with the big toys, you will not want to stop, and you will always find an excuse to upgrade your toys. Taking his advice and considering my lust for motorbikes, I could not agree more.

A colleague of mine shares the same passion with motorbikes. He persuades and shows me videos of Kawasaki ER6N whenever I visit his workshop. He did well in persuading me because now, I cannot stop thinking of this ER6N. I googled pictures, videos, reviews of this bike and now, I even imagine owning and riding one before I close my eyes and go to sleep. He plans to buy the bike early next year and I plan to follow his footsteps.

I know this for a fact, I will own a Kawasaki ER6N. Sooner or later. Pray that it will be soon.
